Meet The Manager

Pauline Hodgson is General Manager at Ouse View Care Home.

Hi, my name is Pauline and I am the General Manager here at Ouse View.

I am a qualified nurse and have been involved with care homes in the private sector since 1990. I have had many varied roles during that time, from being a Home Owner to a Regional Manager, Project Manager and General Manager.

I joined Barchester Healthcare in March 2010 and commissioned a new home for them in Chellaston, Derby and latterly I have been the General Manager at one of their homes in Beverley, East Yorkshire.

I am very proud to be given the opportunity to commission their new home in Fordham, York. Please come along and meet my team to discuss your loved one’s care needs or just to have a cup of tea and a chat.

Ouse View Care Home in York

Our new premium care home will be opening in York in spring 2020, and will offer residential, respite and dementia support to older individuals.

Ouse View has been specifically designed to provide high-quality elderly care, including residential care, as well as care and support for individuals living with dementia.

The home's specialist Memory Lane Community utilises a careful blend of skills and techniques developed by leading experts in the field of dementia care, incorporating person-centred design in its use of colour and cues to help individuals navigate through the home, whilst thoughtful interior design features, such us adapted crockery and tableware, will assist with reminiscence. Communities will be broken up into small units with a family atmosphere so people can feel safe and comfortable.

Description

From nurses and carers to chefs and housekeepers, staff in our home will be here to deliver high quality care and services to those we support.

The Importance Of Meal Times

It is essential that the people we will be supporting have access to healthy food at all times, so our fantastic catering team will always be on hand to prepare tasty and nutritious cuisine. The importance of a balanced diet will never be forgotten here.

Dietary requirements

For residents that have difficulties in swallowing we modify the menu of the day so that is it a soft, palatable dish.  To support our chefs in producing these dishes, our hospitality and Chef Academy organises theory and practical workshops.  Working in partnership with Nutricia, our practical workshops involve all chefs and deputy managers learning about dysphagia and producing these modified menus. The chefs work with the chef trainer to prepare fork mashable and thick puree meals to the correct consistency, taste and presentation.  The deputy managers can then ensure all modified menus served are presented correctly for our residents.

Activities Are So Important

We understand that the people we will be supporting will have passions and interests that could be difficult to pursue after moving into a care home – but that doesn’t mean we won’t encourage them to try! Some hobbies can define a person, so our activities team will be dedicated to ensuring that everyone we support is able to do what makes them happy to the best of their abilities. Social events will be organised with individual tastes in mind and with the idea that residents have the opportunity to try new and exciting things.
