Meet The Manager

Tish McKee is The Registered Manager at Millennium Home Care.

I have worked within the Care sector now for over 22 years working within public, private, local authority and third sector supporting the most vulnerable of our communities. My true focus lies in dementia care relationship centred principals of support. I hold a MSc in Dementia Studies from the internationally renowned Stirling University. For me, being able to be with and connect with the person is key to how I work, enabling me to meaningfully engage with them and those around them.

I have previously achieved a CQC rating of Outstanding and continue to challenge to improve and to innovate. My drive comes from deep routed morals and ethics on continually wanting to push the boundaries to achieve the best we can in everything we do for those we work with. Although this can be challenging, the positive impacts are humbling.

Tish McKee

Our innovative approach to care recognises the importance of relationships between both yourself and your caregiver, and the wider community of friends and family around you. We look to reinforce this support by helping to build a dynamic network within your local community to help you maintain a healthy, active social life and enact positive changes. We can utilise contacts in your immediate community to help us build a more complete picture of your day to day life, so that we can help you continue doing the things that make you, you. We like to think of it ourselves as companions rather than just care givers which is exactly why every care plan begins in the same way, with a conversation over a coffee

Beth Bryges
Beth Bryges
Executive Aassistant

Joining the family in 2019, Beth has gone on to become an integral part of the Millennium care group. She’s an outspoken advocate for the removal of the stigma felt about care homes; a cause she tries to further by dedicating herself to providing the kind of care that she feels her client’s deserve. Warm, caring, attentive and fun! She considers the innovative work that Millennium care take on to be a vital part of the wider care industry and this is what makes her proud to be a part of the family.

Everything Beth does puts the resident at the centre. She’s spent the last three years improving the lives of everyone who has come through her doors, and if that’s not enough elderly care experience for you, she’s adamant that she gets plenty of practice with her own son, who, in her words is “4 going on 40” whatever that might mean!

Katie Salisbury
Katie Salisbury
Human Resources

Katie actually spent lots of time growing up in a care homemaking many wonderful memories with the residents that quickly became her friends. There was one gentleman she grew particularly close to. His name was George and in Katie’s eyes, he was more like her Grandfather than a resident. He attended her 18th birthday and even brought her first Sambuca shot so Katie knows better than most just how enriching relationships formed in this kind of setting can be, not just for the residents but for the staff too. That’s the thing that Katie loves most about millennium care; the fact that it operates as one big family, so when the HR position came up she realised it was the perfect fit.

Clare Croston
Clare Croston
Marketing and PR Executive

Clare got into Care work because she recognised all of the value that older people have to offer that so often goes overlooked. She sees the worth of experience and enjoys getting the chance to learn so much from so many of the people that have come through our care home doors.

Clare’s work is driven by the belief that you’re never too old to have fun; never too old to pick up a new hobby or develop a new skill and she says that seeing that spark of excitement in a resident who has just been introduced to a new favourite pastime is one of the things that makes her proudest to do the incredible job that she does.

Jenny Kartupelis
Jenny Kartupelis
Wellbeing lead

enny has been involved in studying and speaking on the wellbeing of older people for many years, since she was first commissioned by a large charity to undertake research into the lives and relationships of residents and care staff in homes. This resulted in a book about the importance of ‘relational care’, and requests to write more about how to make this type of care work in everyday situations (residential and community).

She recently published a second book this year: ‘Making Relational Care Work for Older People’ (2021, Routledge). Jenny lives in the Peak District and is a keen walker and open water swimmer who has swum the Hellespont in Turkey (from Asia to Europe) and the ‘escape’ swim from Alcatraz Island to San Francisco. ‘I only found out about the sharks later!’ she says.

Activities Are So Important

At times we can all feel lonely but knowing that you will have a dedicated companion who will work with you to do things that you wish is very important to upholding wellbeing. This may take the form of maintaining an existing hobby, trying something new, going for a walk, helping you to meet up with old friends, connecting with lost friends or just having a good chat over a cuppa. Whatever it may entail will help you feel connected to the community within which you live from giving you a hand with the weekly shop, accompanying you to your doctor’s appointment or to your favourite social group or event, companionship is simply being there for you or your loved one.
