What we're doing to keep residents & visitors safe

Better Healthcare Coronavirus (COVID-19) Statement

Better Healthcare is committed to providing care that is as Covid secure as possible, and are doing everything possible to minimise the risk to our carers and the people they support.

● All carers attend Covid 19 test centres 48 hours before arriving in a booking to confirm that they negative.

● All carers supporting a client do a Covid 19 PCR test on a weekly basis by posting the test off and getting results by email and text message.

• All of our live in carers have personal protective equipment (PPE) that may be necessary in the course of their work including gloves, aprons, face masks and hand sanitiser sent to their client’s homes on a monthly basis, or at the start of their package of care.

● Care plan and risk assessments are mainly completed for new clients by telephone or video link to minimise the need for an assessor to visit the home.

• We have a business continuity plan to ensure that we can provide care to those who need it in the event of staff becoming unwell or needing to self-isolate and other emergencies.

• We have recirculated our infection control policy to staff along with government guidelines (along with sensible precautions) for social care settings that we are following and which we expect all staff to thoroughly adhere to.

• Carers have all had Covid 19 infection control training by zoom and are given regular emailed updates.

• We ask clients to have a plentiful supply of liquid soap and kitchen towel for handwashing and drying as well as disinfectant for any cleaning that may be required.

● Carer training includes best practice tips such as correct disposal of uses tissues, and not shaking out unwashed laundry.

● Better Healthcare are in touch with all relevant local authorises and professional organisations to receive guidelines and policies changes as soon as that are released and are able to act upon this immediately.

Amy O'Neill
Field Care Manager for Cambridgeshire, Bedfordshire, Northamptonshire, Rutland & Buckinghamshire

Hi I’m Amy. Ive worked for Better Healthcare for over 2 years now as the Fieldcare Manager for live-in care in Cambridgeshire. Over this time the element of my job which I have really enjoyed is meeting new people, sustaining relationships with clients and being able to offer that 1-2-1 support from our carers. Nothing beats sitting and having a cup of tea and a catch up! There is no job too big or small that we won’t try and find a solution for. In my spare time I enjoy spending time with my two dogs and husband too – but mainly the dogs and watching a good crime series.
