Lynn Lovett is The Registered Manager at Upper Mead.

Upper Mead is a care centre and support service from Sussex Health Care, dedicated to carrying out person-centred provision within a peaceful and safe setting.

Staff are skilled to assist with special needs, including dementia and Alzheimer's care, while many beneficial therapies can also be accessed as part of the service.

Food is homecooked and special diets are catered for. Specialist baths are ideal for those with mobility issues and there is also a hairdressing salon on site.

Upper Mead is a care home with nursing care available 24 hours a day. The home provides care for 48 people, and is made up of three areas: the ground floor, first floor and the home's dedicated Dementia Wing. The accommodation is comprised of single rooms and one double room, most with en-suite facilities. There are three lounges, a quiet room and a spacious dining room all with splendid views of the gardens.

All staff undertake an induction programme when joining SHC. In addition, a system of supervision and support for care staff enables them to gain experience and increase their skills. Extensive in-house training is provided by the SHC Training Academy, and QCF courses are undertaken in conjunction with local colleges.

The Importance Of Meal Times

Our experienced chefs and kitchen staff prepare a variety of home-cooked dishes, paying special attention to individual requirements and any special diets. Mealtimes are an important social interlude at Upper Mead and great care is taken to ensure that meals are attractively presented and elegantly served.

The activities programme is one of the most important aspects of life at Upper Mead. A huge range of activities are undertaken by people living at Upper Mead, including arts and crafts, quizzes, reminiscence sessions, music and movement, bingo and sing-a-longs. The key aims of the programme are provision of mental stimulation, continuation of hobbies and interests and prolonging mobility.
