Our Building and Facilities

Mountford is a 36 bed nursing home for people with long term conditions such as diabetes, Parkinson's, frailty, dementia and palliative care. We care for our residents 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, in a supportive and dignified environment. Our staff promote independence and understand different illnesses. They are highly trained and passionate about their roles and the lives of our residents. Our lovely home overlooks the city of Truro and we would love for you to see it. We have an open door policy, visitors are always welcome.

Mountford has big, bright, open rooms with a communal area overlooking the city of Truro and the surrounding countryside. There are lots of cosy spaces for residents to relax in and enjoy the view onto the garden, as well as sensory areas to experience. We keep our home decorated with fresh flowers and personal pictures so everyone feels involved and comfortable.

Our beautiful sensory garden -which has wheelchair access - provides a wonderful, calm and serene retreat, where our residents and their loved ones can enjoy those sunny Cornish days surrounded by bright and colourful flowers, or engage in a spot of gardening or feeding the chickens. Our delightful tea room also provides the perfect space for relaxing and indulging in a Cornish cream tea. The tea room can be booked out for family functions so families can spend time with their loved ones. There is also a greenhouse for pottering about in.

Our home is cosy and relaxed, with a team who are passionate about caring. Description

At Mountford we have at least one nurse on duty per shift and a team of experienced Health care assistants.

At Cornwall Care we ensure that our staff are supported. We know how important it is to understand our residents and their illnesses, particularly dementia and mental health, which can often be misunderstood, so we make sure that all our staff are trained in dementia care and ethics and aware of an individual’s spiritual needs.

We are nationally recommended and awarded for our training and career development. Our aim as a team is to provide loving support for all our residents, promoting awareness, safety and most important of all, individuality.

The Importance Of Meal Times

Meals and mealtimes are a very important part of our daily lives and it is vital for our health and wellbeing that the experience is a positive one.

We pride ourselves on the quality of our catering and the range of choice available to our residents daily. We promote individual wellbeing through a positive, enjoyable dining experience in pleasant settings and support our residents to eat and drink so they are well-hydrated and well-nourished.

Within Cornwall Care our Chefs provide healthy, nutritious, wholesome food. We source local ingredients and cook fresh every day. Clients are offered their preferred choice and likes, dislikes, dietary needs and cultural preferences are always catered for.

We also understand the importance of having an enjoyable eating experience - whether that means fresh flowers on the table, food from childhood, eating alone or eating with friends - we try to provide experiences that suit each individual, catering for their personal needs.

Activities Are So Important

Individuality and community are important to us; everyone at Mountford is part of our community, including residents, staff, relatives and visitors. You can sense the homely and relaxed atmosphere as soon as you walk through the door and there is always laughter and music coming from our main room. We have lots of activities to stimulate the mind and body, as well as regular trips to nearby towns and fun local events. We have our own Oomph activities co-ordinator to keep you busy. We have quite the active social life!

We offer a range of activities designed to stimulate body and mind and each week, our Activities Co-ordinator will prepare a varied list of organised activities designed to meet the social, physical, spiritual and environmental needs of our residents. We encourage friends and family members to join us. In addition to our regular activities, entertainers and performers visit on a frequent basis and seasonal events, such as Christmas and birthdays, are always celebrated. Residents' loved ones are welcome to visit and we are able to accommodate small parties and gatherings to celebrate these occasions on request as well.

We understand how people have different interests and abilities and try our best to provide meaningful activities to suit each individual. Our staff get to know what stimulates, engages and gives purpose to each individual and we take feedback from our residents to make sure there is something for everyone to enjoy.

We also employ the organisation 'Oomph', an award-winning social enterprise dedicated to enhancing the mental, physical and emotional well-being of older adults. They deliver ground-breaking, cost effective solutions to give older people the best possible quality of life.
