Infection control and the safety of both residents and staff often requires quarantine measures and the isolation of care home residents. To test, monitor and allow residents to communicate with relatives, the prevalence of room-level connectivity within the home is becoming increasingly relevant.

Our Building and Facilities

Spread out across the home there are five communal lounges, a bar-lounge and 12-seat cinema, meaning peace and quiet is never far away.

Our communal lounge spaces are very popular with the residents and they’re where a lot of the socialising in the home takes place, as well as in the dining rooms.

Meyrick Rise has a great garden, accessible from the ground-floor lounge. The landscaped grounds are beautifully maintained and are a pleasure to walk around.

Description

With 69 bedrooms offering residential, nursing and respite care, we think carefully about the type of room each resident needs. For those who find bathing difficult, or prefer a bath, there are also bathrooms and shower rooms within the home where full assistance can be provided.

All our rooms are furnished to the highest specifications with your comfort in mind, and each room has an individual décor. Your bedroom furniture consists of: an appropriate bed suitable to your needs, wardrobe, three drawer chest, bedside table with lockable drawer, over-bed table, armchair and other furniture suitable to the size of the room. There’s also a flat-screen TV and telephone socket for your convenience.

We understand that moving into Meyrick Rise will be a considerable transition, but one we try to make feel as easy as possible. Your room is your own personal space, which is why we encourage you to personalise it if you like, by hanging your favourite pictures or bringing small pieces of furniture.

We encourage people to make the rooms their own. Quite a few of our residents will ask us to take out pieces of our furniture to make room for some of their own from home. The choice is yours.

Description

We’re a diverse group, from different backgrounds and with different roles, but we all have something fundamental in common – every single one of us is passionate about care.

It’s almost like a sixth sense: people who are always on hand to help, but with enough empathy to know when to leave you be; people who don’t have favourites, and who are always busy creating the little moments of kindness that make a real difference to life here.

As well as our team of carers and nurses, GPs regularly visit the home and are on call to provide services, should they be needed at any time. We also have local dentists, opticians, hairdressers and other professionals who provide services to residents at the home. And everyone gets stuck in together – whether to serve breakfast or perform at our music nights.

The Importance Of Meal Times

At Meyrick Rise, we love our food. We firmly believe that when you eat well, you live well too. This is a core part of our brighterkind philosophy of care, centering on good nutrition and the importance of mealtimes as a social occasion.

Each day our chef prepares restaurant-style meals combining variety with a balanced diet and an emphasis on locally sourced ingredients. And we can cater to any dietary or health requirements, however complex.

There is a large dining room on the ground floor, laid out with tables for five. It’s a space that always becomes a hub of conversation and laughter, and which gives even our more frail residents a chance to come together and socialise. Whether it’s tea and cakes in the garden or a roast each Sunday, we encourage our residents to make the most of living in a friendly environment. There will be plenty of people to meet, and a lot of stories to share.

Of course, when, where and who you eat with is entirely up to you. Friends and family can join you as often as you’d like (at a small charge) and our extras menu gives you the option to order snacks at any time of the day.

Activities Are So Important

Every brighterkind home now has a Magic Moments Club which provides a vast range of activities and fun things to do that are open to all of our residents.

The idea behind Magic Moments is that just because someone moves into a care home doesn't mean that the things they love doing should suddenly stop – quite the contrary, we believe our residents should have the opportunity to love every day, by doing the things that they have always loved as well as trying new things along the way.

Magic moments are unique to each individual and so it is important that the Magic Moments programme reflects this, tailoring activities to meet each resident’s individual needs in the best possible way, whilst at the same time enjoying the company of others.

Every brighterkind home now has a Magic Moments Club which provides a vast range of activities and fun things to do that are open to all of our residents:
