About Us
Holmewood sits in a prestigious location on Lamplugh Road, on the edge of Cockermouth, about a ten minute walk from the centre of town, but with views towards the nearby fells of Lorton to the south and Skiddaw to the east. The Home occupies the major portion of a small exclusive estate, sharing the site with three newly built detached houses, but with its own landscaped lawns and garden which also features a large purpose built timber gazebo.
Holmewood is registered for 26 older adults, who require Residential Care and Support. All 25 bedrooms at Holmewood have either en suite showers or baths, and these are enhanced by the easy access Jacuzzi bath provided in the disabled bathroom. Dayrooms are large and elegant, with one devoted to activities, music, private family groups or just quiet enjoyment and reflection. A full menu with a range of choices is served everyday, with home cooked dishes using locally sourced ingredients. All tastes and diets are catered for.

Joanne DoughertyThe Home ManagerI have worked in the health and social care sector since leaving school at sixteen, so coming up 29 years, I have done every role from trainee Care Assistant right through to latterly now the Registered Home Manager. My main career goal has always been to work in and manage a care home where I would want to have my loved ones live in. I have worked in various settings over the years from council-run homes to small privately owned care homes to larger more corporate companies I Joined Churchlake Care as Registered Manager for Holmewood in August 2021 and I’m proud to say in the short time that I have found the home to be a friendly happy place to work and live. We have amazing residents and a fantastic staff team here at Holmewood. |
