Meet The Manager

Linda Delbridge is Home Manager at Headlands.

We are the largest care provider in Cornwall. We are a not-for-profit organisation and a registered charity, giving practical assistance for all types of care. We offer residential, nursing and dementia care in our 16 care homes.

"We believe in going above and beyond offering high quality care, going that extra mile to improve lives every day."

Headlands is a 32 bed care home for older people in need of residential support. We care for our residents 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, in a supportive, dignified and friendly environment. Our staff promote independence and understand different illnesses. They are highly trained and passionate about their roles and the lives of our residents. Our beautiful home enjoys panoramic views of Carbis Bay and we would love for you to see it. Visitors are always welcome to join us.

When visiting our homes, please understand that we have a friendly open door policy, we welcome visits to our homes and will do our best to always accommodate unplanned visits. However, we ask that you understand our homes can be very busy in the mornings and we may be supporting our clients, so unplanned visits may require a short waiting period for a staff member to show you around. We will offer you a seat and a cup of tea whilst you wait.

Description

At Cornwall Care we ensure that our staff are supported. We know how important it is to understand our residents and their illnesses, particularly dementia and mental health, which can often be misunderstood, so we make sure that all our staff are trained in dementia care and ethics.

We are nationally recommended and awarded for our training and career development. Our aim as a team is to provide loving support for all our residents, promoting awareness, safety and most important of all, individuality.

At Headlands we offer care for people who need residential support. Our team is dedicated to the comfort and contentment of the people we care for; always there to lend a helping hand, we love coming to work at Headlands and are proud to be a part of the loving, cosy, family atmosphere. Our lovely residents are a vibrant and lively group; everyone likes to have fun!

When residents join us at Headlands, the first thing that we do is develop a comprehensive care plan with them, setting out the care we aim to provide and how we will achieve this. We assess this plan on a continual basis, working with the resident to ensure that their needs are met. Care is available for our residents 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, from a team that is proud of the work that they do. Residents’ families are always welcome to visit.

Jayne Parker
Deputy Manager

I have worked in care for 28 years in various homes in Leicester and in Hull.  I have worked with clients who have had varying degrees of Dementia over the years. I am very passionate about my role and the people I work with. I moved from Hull to Cornwall in 2017 and started working at Headlands as an HCA 3.  In 2018 I became Deputy Manager. I chose Headlands as the view is beautiful and has a warm homely feeling.

The Importance Of Meal Times

Meals and mealtimes are a very important part of our daily lives and it is vital for our health and wellbeing that the experience is a positive one.

We pride ourselves on the quality of our catering and the range of choice available to our residents daily. We promote individual wellbeing through a positive, enjoyable dining experience in pleasant settings and support our residents to eat and drink, so they are well-hydrated and well-nourished.

Within Cornwall Care our Chefs provide healthy, nutritious, wholesome food. We source local ingredients and cook fresh every day. Clients are offered their preferred choice and likes, dislikes, dietary needs and cultural preferences are always catered for.

We also understand the importance of having an enjoyable eating experience - whether that means fresh flowers on the table, food from childhood, eating alone or eating with friends - we try to provide experiences that suit each individual, catering for their personal needs.

Activities Are So Important

Individuality and independence are important to us; everyone living with us has the freedom to do what they want to do, when they want to do it. Our residents bake, play games, take part in activities and love the ‘Drummer Man’ when he visits! We also love to visit the beach, shops and nearby cafes, as well as listen to the members of the local church when they visit each week to conduct religious services. We have lots of fun things to do!
