Melanie Marshall is Registered Manager at Hampden House.

My name is Melanie Marshall and I am proud to be the Manager of Hampden House Care Home which is located in the beautiful Spa Town of Harrogate.

I am a Registered Nurse with a Diploma in Higher Education and a B.Sc.(hons) in Health and Social Care. My care background started in 1980 as a Volunteer, progressing to Care Assistant, Student Nurse, Staff Nurse and then Ward Manager within the NHS. I transferred to the private sector in 2003 and remain passionate concerning my chosen career, endeavouring to ensure that residents who have made the lifestyle choice of 24 hour residential and/or nursing support, also have the opportunity to live life to the full, after all, it is not simply the amount of years in your life that count, but the quality of the life in those years.

Ubiquitous to any role within the care sector is compassion, combined with the ability to put others before yourself while being respectful to fellow colleagues and those they are caring for.

Hampden House is a purpose built care home located in the Duchy Estate of the elegant town of Harrogate in North Yorkshire and offers a home from home for discerning guests who appreciate the comfort, quality and exceptional care that we offer.

The home has 65 rooms and provides both nursing and personal care, on a permanent or short stay, as well as offering end of life care. All rooms have en suite facilities with views over the attractive landscaped gardens or courtyards.

From award-winning restaurant style dining to industry-leading social engagement, Hampden House provides the highest level of service and facilities.

Each person is individually assessed regarding their care need and the fee is set with the General Manager based on that assessment and the room chosen. Fees are reviewed annually.

We employ Hotel Service Managers, Chefs and Food Service Assistants, all of whom are encouraged to develop their skills to deliver the very best in food service. All of our menus are created daily on the premises with fresh quality ingredients for a very selective and appreciative clientele. There are also frequent opportunities to create fabulous celebration menus for larger social events for our residents and their guests.

Our social engagement leaders support all staff and Friends of Hampden House in liaising with residents to establish their interests in order to develop personal engagement opportunities in addition to a wide variety of entertainment and outings.
